Two identical wooden mills on a worktop is a small daily irritation: you pick one up, grind, taste, and discover it was the wrong one. This one has a long window cut down the body so the contents are simply visible - salt on the left, peppercorns on the right, no labels needed and no guessing. The grinding core is ceramic rather than steel, which matters more than it sounds: steel burrs corrode when they sit in damp sea salt, and once they pit they stop cutting cleanly. Ceramic does not corrode at all, so the same mill can do salt one week and pepper the next. Coarseness is set by turning the knob on top - clockwise for fine, back for coarse - and the range is wide enough to go from a fine table grind to the cracked pepper you want on a steak. The body is solid acacia, 20 cm tall, with the darker streaking that comes with the wood. The largest option adds a shaped acacia stand that keeps both mills upright and off the worktop, plus a small spoon and a cleaning brush.

The window is the whole point. Two matching wooden mills are indistinguishable until you grind one, and then it is too late.

Ceramic core, not steel
Damp sea salt corrodes a steel burr and it never cuts properly again. Ceramic is unaffected, so either mill can take either job.

Grind you can actually set
Turn the top knob clockwise for finer, back for coarser. Fine enough for the table, coarse enough to crack pepper over a steak.
