Rustic Ceramic Coffee Cup with Wooden Handle and Base

A triangular wooden handle keeps your grip off the hot ceramic wall, so the cup stays comfortable to hold from the first pour to the last sip.

• 180 ml (6 fl oz) capacity
• Coarse stoneware ceramic body
• Solid wood handle and matching wood base
• Matte speckled glaze, no two cups alike
• Grooved base for a stable seat
• Available in Large and Small

Ceramic holds heat well, which is exactly why a ceramic mug is hard to hold by the wall once the coffee is in it. This cup solves that by moving the grip point off the ceramic entirely: a solid wooden handle, cut on an angle and fitted flush against the cone, gives your fingers a cool, dry surface to close around no matter how hot the contents are. The same logic runs to the base, a rounded wood foot grooved on top so the ceramic sits into it rather than balancing on a flat glazed ring, which is where most mugs start to rock on an uneven counter. The body itself is a coarse stoneware fired with a matte glaze rather than a glossy one, so the surface picks up small natural flecks and unevenness as it fires, and the shop cannot promise you two cups that look exactly alike. At 180 ml it is a short pour, sized for a single espresso-based drink or a proper measure of tea rather than a big American mug, and empty it works as a small holder for dessert or a stem or two of flowers. Hand wash only. Not for the microwave or dishwasher, since heat cycling and repeated soaking are hard on both the glaze and the wood joint.

Handle stays cool
The wooden handle is set apart from the ceramic body, so your hand never touches the hot wall of the cup.

Sits without rocking
The base is grooved to seat the ceramic foot, which stops the wobble a flat glazed ring can develop on an uneven surface.

No two alike
The matte glaze fires with natural flecks and small variations in tone, so each cup carries its own texture.
