Most plug-in night lights ask you to choose between light and outlet space, and between a switch you have to remember and a glow that stays on all night whether you need it or not. This one solves both with a small sensor behind the housing that reads the amount of light in the room: as the room dims past a threshold, the lamp turns on by itself, and it switches off again once daylight returns, so there is no reaching for a switch in the dark and no light left running at noon. Set it to AUTO for that daily rhythm, or override it to ON or OFF when you want manual control instead. The housing throws light both upward and downward against the wall rather than out as a single point, which reads as a soft wash rather than a glare, closer to a wall lamp than a night light. A pass-through outlet built into the base means plugging this in does not cost you the socket underneath it, so a phone charger or another device still has somewhere to go. The plug itself rotates, which matters more than it sounds like it should: it lets the up-and-down beam sit level even when the wall outlet itself is oriented sideways or upside down. Brightness runs from a bare glow up to 80 lumens, adjusted to the room and the hour.
