Everyone has thrown away a half-used bar because it dissolved into a grey puddle in the dish. That is not the soap's fault, it is the dish: a flat dish with a lip holds every drop of water against the bar. This one is shaped like a leaf with the surface tilted along its length, so water runs down the veining and off the tip. The bar sits on the raised ribs and gets air underneath. It stands on a small pedestal foot, which lifts the whole thing clear of a wet counter and makes it far easier to wipe around. The glaze is a marble effect with gold veining running through it, and because it is ceramic rather than metal or bamboo there is nothing to rust and nothing to swell. Three colours: white for a bright bathroom, black for contrast against pale tile, and a deep green that reads as the least obvious of the three.
