Most door stops solve half the problem. They stop the door hitting the wall, and then the door swings shut again the moment there is a draught. This one catches. A slim disc goes on the floor, a matching plate on the bottom edge of the door, and when the door swings open they meet and hold. A normal pull releases it. That is the difference between propping a door with a wedge every time and simply opening it. The profile matters as much as the magnet: at 5 mm the floor disc is low enough to vacuum over and low enough that nobody catches a toe. It is made from 304 stainless steel rather than zinc alloy, which is the reason it can go in a bathroom or a back door without the pitting you get on the cheap ones within a year. Fit it with the two screws or, on tile you would rather not drill, with the adhesive pads that come in the box.

The magnet holds the door against a draught. A wedge stops a door; this keeps it where you put it.
