Most vases are cylinders that need flowers to be worth looking at. This one is the other way round: a flat, fanned shell with frilled edges that fills a shelf on its own and only gets better when you add something. The narrow opening does real work — a wide-mouthed vase lets dried pampas or bunny tails flop sideways, while a 2.3 cm neck grips a small bundle and holds the spray upright. The finish is unglazed matte, so it has the dry sandy feel of stoneware rather than the shine of a glaze, and it takes the light softly instead of throwing a highlight. Because the body is flat front-to-back it sits comfortably against a wall, on a mantel, or on a shelf too shallow for a round vase. Beige suits a warm, neutral room; black turns it into a graphic object. It holds water, but with dried stems you will never need to — and dry is how the matte surface stays best.
